Myenergi zappi: Smart EV Charger Optimising Solar Energy

myenergi zappi is an advanced electric vehicle charger designed to maximise the use of self-generated energy (PV) and significantly reduce your energy bills. Zappi is available with a rated power of 7 kW (single-phase) or 22 kW (3-phase).

Key Charging Modes: ECO, ECO+ and FAST

The device offers three charging modes that allow you to precisely control your energy source:

  1. ECO mode: Charging is carried out using a mix of surplus self-generated energy and energy drawn from the grid. The charging current is automatically and continuously adjusted in response to the energy generated on site and household consumption. In this mode, charging continues until the vehicle is fully charged, even if this requires drawing a minimal amount of energy from the grid (up to 1.4 kW) when self-generation proves insufficient.
  2. ECO+ mode: This mode maximises savings by ensuring that all energy supplied to the vehicle comes exclusively from self-generated surpluses that would otherwise be exported to the grid. Charging is paused if the surplus falls below the minimum required by the vehicle and is only resumed when sufficient surplus free energy is available.
  3. FAST mode: In this setting, Zappi acts as a regular electric vehicle charging station (mode 3). The vehicle is charged at the maximum available rate, and the energy can come from self-generation or the grid.

Integration, Functionality and Construction

Zappi is fully integrated with the myenergi ecosystem, allowing you to prioritise surplus generated energy to power your home, the zappi itself, the eddi device or storage in the libbi system.

  • Remote access and control: The myenergi app allows remote access and control of the device from anywhere in the world.
  • Connectivity: The device is equipped with an Ethernet port and a built-in Wi-Fi module (2.4GHz 802.11BGN). It uses the OCPP 1.6J communication protocol (via the cloud).
  • Energy management: It works with an energy storage system and offers an optional Dynamic Load Balancing function to reduce the current drawn from the grid.
  • Sensors and safety features: Clip-on mains sensors are included in the set. The device has an integrated 6 mA DC residual current device (RDC-DD), compliant with EN 62955.
  • Physical Specifications: Zappi is designed for indoor or outdoor installation (permanent installation). The 438 x 282 x 122 mm housing has a high degree of protection IP65 (dust and water tight) and impact resistance IK10. The device has a backlit graphic LCD display and a multi-colour LED indicating the state of charge.
